Also known as: L-beta-aminoisobutyric acid, L-BAIBA, BAIBA, Exercise myokine
Branded IngredientsEarly evidence
A compound muscle releases during exercise, sold on the premise of producing some of exercise's effects without the exercise. Genuinely interesting biology, and almost no human evidence.

What it is
L-beta-aminoisobutyric acid is a myokine, a signalling molecule released by muscle tissue during exercise. It is produced naturally, and blood levels rise in response to training.
MitoBurn is the branded L-form used in supplements. The distinction matters, since the compound exists as two isomers and the L-form is the one associated with the exercise response.
Myokines are a legitimate and active field of research, investigating how muscle communicates with other tissues. The supplement premise is that supplying one of these signals directly reproduces some of what exercise does, which is an appealing idea and a large leap.
How it works
In preclinical models, BAIBA has been reported to promote the browning of white fat tissue, increasing its capacity to burn energy rather than store it, and to increase fat oxidation in the liver.
It has also been studied in relation to bone and to metabolic signalling, with reported effects on insulin sensitivity in animal models.
The obvious question is whether a signal that muscle releases in response to work produces the same downstream effects when swallowed in the absence of that work. Physiological signals usually operate in a context, and removing the context may remove the response. That question has not been answered.
What the evidence shows
The preclinical literature is genuinely interesting, with reported effects on fat metabolism, bone and metabolic markers in animal and cell models.
Human evidence is close to absent. There are very few controlled trials of supplemental L-BAIBA in people, and what exists is small and preliminary.
That gap is the point. This is an ingredient sold on the strength of mouse data and an appealing story, in a category where mouse data has repeatedly failed to translate. It may turn out to work; there is currently no basis for saying it does.
Dosing
Products typically supply 250 to 500 mg daily, often split or taken before training. These figures come from product convention rather than human dose-finding research.
It appears within fat loss and pre-workout formulas rather than being widely sold alone.
Be clear about what you are buying. This is an early-stage ingredient with an appealing mechanism and essentially no human evidence. If fat loss is the goal, the training that raises BAIBA naturally is the intervention with the evidence behind it, and that comparison is worth sitting with.

Safety and side effects
No significant adverse effects have been reported at the doses used, and it is a compound the body produces itself during exercise.
That said, human safety data is limited to a small number of short studies, and absence of reported harm in that context is not the same as an established safety profile.
Long-term data does not exist. Speak to your doctor before use if you take regular medication or are under medical care.
Who should avoid it

Started taking clomadex after a cycle of hexadrone
Started taking clomadex after a cycle of beast in a bottle hexadrone. Works great at keeping my levels up and retaining my muscle mass and strength. Tablets are easy to swallow and have had zero side effects whatsoever. Highly recommend
I was very sceptical to begin with as I believe a lot of these products are a placebo, I finished my first bottle and was still in that mindset however…… I’m midway through my second load and can confirm this product is brilliant! I have put on noticeable size aswell as having an increase in strength during lifting! Will be buying again!!
